    Here in Northern Colorado, wildfires are burning uncontrollably. Dry air, no rain, and just plain bad luck have left us with hazy day after hazy day. Sometimes we can even see bits of ash floating down when we venture outside. It all feels so metaphorical for 2020, doesn’t it?     Grieving Their Childhood

    I was headed home on my morning walk when the white feathers against the green grass caught my eye. Two baby birds lay still near the sidewalk, just a few feet under the nest carefully resting on the branches above. I noticed the mama bird immediately. Flitting from branch to branch, she was unable to sit still, but also unable to do anything about her situation. My heart broke and I silently felt such a maternal connection to that mama bird.
